When using xchat, I found it uncomfortable that whenever I don't want to auto-join a channel any more, I have to find the network in the server list, go to properties, find the channel there and remove it. Adding channels is not much better.

So I wrote a small patch against the xchat in Debian unstable (2.6.4) that adds a checkbox menu entry to the channel's tab's context menu, to quickly take a channel of the autojoin list or add it there.

I submitted the patch upstream, but if you want to give it a shot, you can find it on Debian bug #393783
